Notice of intention to rezone residential property into a wedding venue has been given

Letters to oppose against the rezoning to be written/signed and send to Rina by Thursday the 19 August 2010

1. Committee members to spread the message to as many residents as possible who would like to oppose this initiative

The following factors can be used as motivation:

1. No adequate parking in area
2. Criminal elements to enter our area
3. Refer to act in the History book of Rietondale that no Business right may be given in Rietondale as this is a residential area

Rietondale Park

Fencing of Park will have an estimated cost of R400 000-00 which RHOARA cannot afford

1. A phased approach maybe to be followed starting in the higher risk areas
2. An entrance in North street always to be left open
3. Gates to be locked by guards in the evenings and unlocked
4. George Souranis to quote Rhoara for the same project

Noise levels in Park is now more acceptable and sorted out with relevant parties who has written apology

Cleanliness of the facilities after usage was discussed

Tennis club only have permission to have a Kiosk on the premises

The braai was demolished at a cost of R600-00 and everyone is in agreement to this

Lock on the water was fixed and broken pipe repaired

Notice board with Brandon’s own wording icw vagrants entering premises

a.      Kathy will call Basil King regarding the wording for the boards in the park.

Improving general security when notices are up by removing these elements  

 Placement of boards at various entrances wrt trespassing and vandalism etc. (VERY URGENT)

Unauthorised parking of vehicles within the park grounds (Mostly western side)

6.       Report back on ARS and Security in the area – Das/Pieter

Rietondale/Riviera identified as green areas

Only x2 incidents reported on:

1. 22 May 2010 – Theft of a laptop at 7 Tammeron Terrace. Owner joined ARS after thieves were arrested by police..
2. 3 August 2010 - Car stolen in North street by leaving gate open

Vehicle theft still the highest crime as people leave vehicles outside

SMS to be send out to everyone to Highlight this to all the people as this is pushing up the crime statistics in the area

ARS investigated the house in Soutpansberg road, 3rd house from the corner, Das reported nothing suspicious

NG Church request was attended to and guards placed

Norman got his license but Andries is still busy with driving school lessons

Pieter gave the following feedback:

Rivieria has identified ARS as their preferred supplier

Pieter gave feedback on the following costs that ARS has to carry and that Rhoara considers the following:

Salaries for guards to rise by 11.5% on 1 September 2010

Operational costs in the running of ARS for eg New members must have new boards, false call out for alarms, cell phone calls,

Accidents by guards, insurance costs etc

j.        The increase of costs to be paid to ARS must be given to us by the 15th September of each year to enable us to set up our budget for the next year and discuss it at the AGM in October.  If approved it will be effective from 1st January each year.

January of each year this cost to be re-negotiated with committee

The committee will then plan that these costs be absorbed in the year

7.       Feedback to ARS Guards

The following was emphasized by committee members that:

No private calls should be made to the guards but only to the Ops Room on any emergencies as this can be a risk talking on the cell phone while driving?

No passengers in vehicles except the guard on duty

Only call outs to ARS members in the designated area, if not these costs will be funded from the guards themselves

Member in 18^th avenue to fill in Rhoara application forms, to be returned to Kathy and ARS board to be put up

Committee decided to refund Meas for fine of R500

Ben to report to Herman from this week and Herman to compile list of Ben’s reporting for the next month

GPF indicated that ARS/RHOARA must register with them, Pieter indicated that to his knowledge there is not such law?

Juanita reported that the GPF is busy with the gathering of information of all non ARS members in the area
